No conditions for talks with Advani: Hurriyat chief

All Parties Hurriyat Conference chief Moulvi Abbas Ansari denied placing any conditions for the January 22 talks with Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani.

Several reports said Ansari had said he would boycott the talks if he and his colleague were not allowed to visit Pakistan.

Ansari, speaking to rediff.com, blamed the media for putting out a 'mischievous report'.

"I have never said that we are going to boycott the talks with Advaniji. Some persons in the media have deliberately distorted my statement and put it up as if we are insisting on permission to visit Pakistan before the talks," he said.

When told that several television channels telecast his statement, Ansari said, "I do not know what they showed. But that must have been a part of the statement. What I had told the newsmen is that as and when the government offers to have a ceasefire with the terror groups based in Pakistan then we would like to go across and hold talks with them to give up violence."

The five-member Hurriyat delegation will reach Delhi in two batches. "Three members of the delegation would leave for Delhi on Monday and the other two would leave on Tuesday. The talks would go on as schedule." Ansari said.
