The World Social Forum kicked off to a grand start on Friday, filled with music, drama and lots of activists from over 130 countries.
The Goregaon venue, in suburban Mumbai, was filled with activists from South America, Southeast Asia and many European countries. With flags, banners and placards, all to protest against the globalisation, as propagated by the multinational corporations.
Protests against the US-led occupation of Iraq marked the first day of the World Social Forum.
Chanting, dancing, drumming, processions from every direction, it was one typical Indian mela.
Only early morning sun saw the participants streaming out of the grounds.
