Pakistan on Tuesday reacted coolly to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's suggestion of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh jointly celebrating the 150th anniversary of the 1857 uprising.

The event is considered to be the first major challenge for the British after they had become the dominant power in the Indian sub-continent.

"This is food for thought. 1857 has a different connotation for Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. We will study it (the proposal)," Pakistan Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali told reporters after the end of the three-day SAARC Summit in Islamabad.

The event is in the news for another reason. Ketan Mehta is making a film on one of the man whose actions sparked off the uprising: Mangal Pandey. His role is to be enacted by Aamir Khan.
