The meeting between Prime Minster Atal Bihari Vajpayee and President Pervez Musharraf on Monday was not merely a courtesy call.
It was preceded by hectic debates and exchanges of information. India has not even categorically denied the report that the National Security Adviser Brajesh Mishra met Inter-Services Intelligence chief Lieutenant General Ishanul Haque.

"While talking to Pakistani leadership PM Vajpayee presented the details of Jammu attack," a source told rediff.com. "A Pakistani national has died in it. Pakistan side had no answer for it. They could not deny the death of a Pakistani national."
On January 2, two heavily armed terrorists, in army attire, had attacked the Jammu railway station. The terrorists were killed, but not before they claimed four lives.
The attack came two days before the start of the SAARC summit in Islamabad.
"India's concern remained cross-border terrorism," the source said. "Jammu attack has proved that it has not stopped completely. Pakistan side was insisting on finalisation of the dates to start the composite dialogue."
Till Monday night India was noncommittal about the dates.
