The contractors' mafia allegedly murdered Dubey, an engineer working with the National Highways Authority of India on the Golden Quadrilateral Project, after his letter to the PMO about corruption in the project got leaked.

The three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice V N Khare, Justice S K Sema and Justice S B Sinha heard the petition. The petitioner had requested the court to ask the government to order an inquiry to find out the names of the persons involved in leaking out the letter. He also asked for a CBI probe into Dubey's murder.

The petition will come up for hearing again after six weeks.
