The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's plea seeking retransfer of disproportionate assets cases against her from Bangalore to Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh or Kerala.

A bench comprising Justice S N Variava and Justice H K Sema said, "No case is made out by Jayalalithaa for modification of the court's earlier order."

The court on November 18 had transferred two disproportionate assets cases against Jayalalithaa from a Chennai court to Bangalore expressing apprehension that fair trial would not be possible in Tamil Nadu.

Justice Sema, writing the judgment, observed: "We do not have the least doubt in mind that the trial court will discharge its duties in accordance with the law."

Jayalalithaa is accused of amassing wealth to the tune of Rs 66 crore disproportionate to her income.
