It is estimated that at least 130,000 people have been left homeless in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring Pondicherry in the aftermath of the tsunami waves.
About 100,000 displaced persons have been accommodated in 200 relief camps set up in schools, community centres and marriage halls across Tamil Nadu, where scenes of grief are a common sight.
