The toll in the Union Territory of Pondicherry in the wake of the killer tsunami that lashed it on Sunday has risen to 377, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said.

He told reporters that 265 deaths have been reported in Karaikal and the rest in Pondicherry town.
The chief minister said he will seek an initial relief of Rs 25 crore from the Centre to tackle the situation.
He said the government is supplying 25 kg of rice to each affected family and clothes are being distributed in relief camps and affected areas.
