Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [ Images ] will visit areas affected by Sunday's tsumani waves in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Pondicherry and Kerala [ Images ] on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The prime minister will return to the capital on Wednesday, a spokesman from prime minister's office said.

Congress president and ruling United Progressive Alliance [ Images ] chairperson Sonia Gandhi [ Images ] is visiting Andaman and Nicobar islands [ Images ] to supervise rescue and relief operations.

Over 3000 people have been killed by the killer waves that pounded the islands on Sunday.

Sonia is accompanied by Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee [ Images ] and All India [ Images ] Congress Committee general secretary Ambika Soni.
