The Lok Sabha on Thursday witnessed uproarious scenes with National Democratic Alliance members alleging that the Prime Minister's Office was interfering with the work of investigating agencies, and Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal members waving copies of a news report that the key witness in the Best Bakery case, Zaheera Sheikh, was allegedly bribed by a Bharatiya Janata Party legislator.
Soon after the House assembled on the concluding day of the Winter Session, BJP and NDA members were on their feet waving copies of a letter allegedly written by a close aide of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking revival of prosecution of Leader of the Opposition Lal Kishenchand Advani in the Babri Masjid demolition case.
Countering this, Congress member Madhusudan Mistry and RJD members Sadhu Yadav, Devendra Prasad Yadav and Raghunath Jha were seen waving copies of a newspaper carrying reports on Zaheera.
Repeated requests by Speaker Somnath Chatterjee asking the members to raise the issue after Question Hour failed to cool tempers and the din continued for about 15 minutes before order was restored.
