Juvenile Justice Board principal magistrate Santosh Snehi Mann has directed the editor, the publisher and the concerned reporter of the Times of India to appear in person before her on December 24 to explain why punitive action should not be taken against them.
The newspaper in a report on the MMS clip case on Tuesday identified the school to which boy belonged to and thereby defied the orders of the court.
"Nothing should be printed that will lead to the identity of the school or the juvenile," Mann had ordered on Monday.
"We have moved the court under section 21 of the Juvenile Act 2000 and complained that it should take action against the Times of India for printing stories that named the juvenile. The judge has passed an order for personal appearance of the editor, publisher and the concerned reporter on December 24," Punit Mittal, advocate of the concerned school told rediff.com on Tuesday.
Asked why he had not made similar complaints about the television channels like the NDTV and ZEE News, which had also named the school, Mittal said the two channels had promised to remove the name of the school from their reportage.
