A Border Security Force officer was shot dead allegedly by an army jawan near the Line of Control in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said on Monday.

Sub-Inspector Yashpaul Singh was allegedly killed by soldier Devinder Singh at Doodi post in Machil sector on Sunday.

It was not immediately known what led to the incident. However, according to unconfirmed reports, the jawan was in an inebriated state and shot at the BSF officer following an altercation.
