With just a few weeks to go for the Bihar assembly election, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday threatened to approach the Election Commission against Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Yadav's 'Maha Raily' in Patna.

"About 22 trains are being diverted from different routes for the December 23 rally and the entire railway ministry is working to make the event a success," BJP parliamentary party spokesman V K Malhotra said in New Delhi.

"There is total misuse of the state machinery and district collectors have been asked to bring crowds in trucks and buses," he said.

He said that when other parties, including the BJP and Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party, organised such public rallies, "trains were cancelled and buses were prevented from reaching the venue".

"Our state unit has been asked to collect all the facts," he said.

When pointed out that the polls were yet to be notified, Malhotra said, "The Election Commission has already ordered removal of the chief minister's photographs from schoolbags in Jharkhand, which also goes to poll early next year."
