The two-member commission probing the Godhra riot arrived in the town on Monday to visit the incident spot, police sources said.
The commission, comprising Justice (retd) G T Nanavati and Justice K G Shah, along with four lawyers representing the state government, will visit the Godhra railway station and inspect the S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express during its one-day visit, the sources told PTI.
The riot broke out after the coach was set on fire on February 27, 2002, killing 59 karsevaks.
This would be the commission's third visit to the incident place.
The four advocates had already visited the spot and the coach on Sunday. They were accompanied by senior officials of the Special Investigation Team probing the case.
The commission's visit assumes significance in the backdrop of the recent second visit by the U C Bannerji Committee, appointed by the railway ministry to probe the technical aspect of the fire that damaged the coach.
