The Supreme Court on Friday adjourned the hearing on a petition seeking bail for Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati.
The matter has been now posted for Friday.
However, in a surprising development, the Shankaracharya's counsel, M N Krishnamani, objected to the petition, describing it as mischievous.
Krishnamani informed the court that no one except him has been authorised to file a petition on behalf of the mutt and the Shankaracharya.
He later told reporters he will move a bail application on behalf of the seer on Monday.
