National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) general secretary T Muivah on Thursday said he is hopeful about a positive outcome of the ongoing peace talks between the Government of India and the Naga leadership.
"We have had good meetings with the Indian leaders. We have had a good meeting with Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and we are satisfied with it. In fact, we feel that the Indian leadership now understands us better than ever before," Muivah told newspersons at the residence of Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Harkishen Singh Surjeet in New Delhi.
Muivah and four other members of the NSCN (I-M) had called on Surjeet in the evening. The chairman of the group, Isak Chishi Swu, was not present at the meeting though.
On Thursday, Muivah and Isak met a number of leaders, including former prime ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Vishwanath Pratap Singh, Bharatiya Janata Party president Lal Kishenchand Advani and Union ministers Sharad Pawar and Pranab Mukherjee, besides Surjeet.
"We had a good meeting with Vajpayee in the afternoon. We discussed issues of general nature during our meetings with the Indian leaders," Muivah said.
Surjeet said his talks with the Naga leaders were good and positive. "I hope they will have fruitful discussions with the Government of India," he said.
