India [ Images ] and Pakistan on Tuesday began talks on the resumption of the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service.

According to sources, the Indian side, led by Road Transport Joint Secretary Alok Rawat, suggested that passengers travelling on the proposed service be made to carry entry permits along with passports.

However, the head of the Pakistani delegation, Jalil Abbas Jilani, evaded a reply when journalists asked him to comment on the suggestion.

Emerging out of the two-hour-long meeting, he, however, said, "Discussions were very good and are continuing. We will now meet tomorrow [Wednesday]."

Pakistan had, in the run up to the talks, reportedly made it clear that it was in favour of only Kashmiris on either side of the Line of Control [ Images ] using the bus service.

India, on the other hand, has stated that all Indians should be allowed to use the service.
