President Pervez Musharraf's loyalist Shaukat Aziz was on Friday elected Pakistan prime minister in a national assembly vote boycotted by the opposition in protest against the speaker's decision not to permit their jailed candidate, Javed Hashmi, to take part in the proceedings.
Musharraf will swear in Aziz, 55, who won 191-0 in the 342-member assembly, on Saturday along with his cabinet.
He will also seek the vote of confidence in parliament.
