Editor of a local Hindi eveninger Mahanagar Sajid Rashid was stabbed on Tuesday by some unidentified persons outside his office at suburban Matunga in Mumbai, police sources said.
Rashid was attacked on his back by a sharp-edged weapon as he was leaving his office, the sources told PTI.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Ahmed Javed said that a case would be registered and the matter would be investigated.
The condition of Rashid, who was admitted to a hospital in Parel, was stable and he was conscious, the sources said. The police, they added, were planning to question him about the attackers later.
Sources said that the newspaper office had been provided security a few days ago following some tension over a news article that had appeared, but refused to link the attack with it.
