The army was on Monday called out to assist the civil administration as rain-fed rivers marooned villages and inundated low lying areas in Kota and Bhilwara districts as torrential rains peaking to 33.5 cms continued to lash most parts of Rajasthan.
There was no report of casualty from the two districts, but thatched roofs collapsed and house hold property perished, the Relief Secretary R K Meena told PTI.
Army boats were pressed into action at Raghunathpura under Shahpura in Bhilwara and many areas of Kota city to evacuate people to safer places, Meena said.
All nine gates of Kota barrage along the Chambal river were opened to release the overflowing water after incessant rains, and so far 17000 cusec water was released, he said.
Food packets were being distributed in Kota and parts of Bhilwara, he said.
Triveni River between Digod and Mandalgarh was overflowing at about 8 feet over the bridge causing floods in the adjoining area, he said.
The Umedsagar dam was flowing above danger level, and a canal would be opened to release the rainy water, he added.
Army choppers were also called to distribute food packets to villagers in both the districts.
Torrential rains continued to lash most parts of the state for the third consecutive week as rainfall touched new heights up to 33.5 Cms (13 inches) till today morning, a Met report said.
Incessant rains also continued in Hadoti region covering Kota-Bundi-Jhalawar, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jaipur, Bhilwara, and tribal belt of Banswara and Dungarpur.
