With 20 more deaths, the toll in the recent spell of floods in Bihar on Tuesday rose to 675 even as relief operations by the army were halted following improvement in the overall situation.

The disaster management department sources said reports of 20 more deaths have come from Darbhanga (5), Sitamarhi (8) and Samastipur (7) in the last 48 hours.
The state government has asked the army to halt relief operations in the flood-hit areas, the sources said.
Indian Air Force helicopters were requisitioned this season perhaps for the longest period for dropping food packets in the affected areas.
Over 20 million (2 crore) people spread over 9,336 villages in 20 districts were affected by floods.
According to a Central Water Commission bulletin, all major rivers are showing a receding trend and are flowing
below their danger marks.
