China's first nude beach, which opened in Zhejiang province, has been temporarily shut down due to public opposition, media reports said on Monday.
The beach, which was open for 15 days, was started last month in Lin'an City.
The beach had sparked a lot of debate, with supporters saying nude swimming helped humans stay in touch with nature, and opponents arguing the move would erode community morals.
The resort's management got the inspiration to start the nude swimming area after eight female university students swam naked.
Although the management was shocked initially, they decided to capitalise on the incident.
The customer service department at the beach said the nude area would be reopened on August 12.
However, general manager of the beach, Huang Jianguang, said if the company were to reopen the nude beach, it would choose a more secluded area.
