Twenty-four more deaths were reported as incessant rains continued to pound Maharashtra and Kerala submerging vast swathes of land, flattening houses and severely hitting rail traffic.
In Gujarat, where the monsoon fury subsided, twelve deaths were reported since Wednesday evening. Ten people died in Maharashra and two in Kerala.
With the latest deaths, the toll from rains this week in northern, western and southern regions crossed 100.

In Maharashtra, the downpour, which uprooted trees at several places, compounded woes of rail commuters with several trains being cancelled or rescheduled.
Around 15 trains out of the 32 scheduled to leave Mumbai Central and Bandra Terminus were cancelled on the western section, railway sources said.
Two of the four lanes on the Mumbai-Pune Express Highway, blocked due to landslides, became operational, traffic control sources in Mumbai said.
In Gujarat's Bahruch district, rescuers evacuated over 2,000 people from a village.
Water level in rain-hit districts, including Surat, was receding and life was slowing getting back to normal.
Heavy showers lashed parts of Kerala as two more casualties were reported from northern districts taking the toll in rain-related incidents in the state since August 1 to 28.
