Police have arrested two persons in connection with the leakage of a third year B Com examination paper of the Mumbai University.
Prakash Suresh Nagariya, a lecturer at Nagri Shikshan Sansthan, Tardeo, leaked the paper with the help of his nephew Achal Gupta, a second-year student at Mithibai College, according to the police.
The accused also confessed they leaked four other T Y B Com papers -- economics, M H R S (management human resource development), accounting (paper 5) and taxation.
Nagariya was appointed examination chief of his college by acting principal S B Sutar.
The Financial Accounting (Paper 3) examination was to be held on March 17. But an hour before the exam, Principal, Mithibai College, Madhav Narayan received by fax a copy of the paper.
He promptly filed a complaint with the police.
The university then decided to hold the exam on March 31, but a day before that paper was also leaked. The exam will now be held on April 8.
A private party was asked to print the papers this time.
The printer couriers the papers to colleges a day before the examination.
According to rules the envelopes containing the papers are opened 10 minutes before the examinations.
Nagariya used to open the envelopes when they reached him and made copies of the papers.
He then sold them with the help of his nephew.
"Investigation is on crucial stage. Some more arrests are expected in this case," Police Commissioner A N Roy said.
