Five killed, two injured in J&K gun battle

Three militants and two armymen, including a junior commissioned officer, have been killed in an encounter in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, defence sources said on Saturday.

The encounter in Tarkundi area of the district began two days back and is still on. The identity of the militants engaged in this battle is not known, sources said.

Junior Commissioned Officer Khilona Singh and Lance Naik Jagdish Singh have died of gun shot wounds, while Major Deepak Joshi and Lance Naik Dalpat have suffered serious injuries.

Three AK rifles, two hand grenades, two radio sets, Rs 4000 in Indian currency and Rs 207 in Pakistani currency have been recovered from the encounter site.
