A witness on Friday alleged before the two-member Gujarat riot probe panel that his son was whisked away by a mob of armed people of the minority community and killed.
Deposing before Justice G T Nanavati (retd) and Justice K G Shah (retd), Dahyalal Raval, a resident of Vatva area in Ahmedabad, said his son Mehul had gone to check on his house in Dharmabhumi Society on March one. Since then, there has been no news about him.
"Mehul was whisked away by a Muslim mob near Burhani Society and as per my information. They (the mob) might have killed him", he said.
Another person, Dashrath Patel, told the Commission that a Muslim mob had attacked his housing society on February 28 last year, torched and damaged nearly 26 houses and also resorted to firing from the top of a masjid, resulting in the death of two persons - Satish and Amit Patel. He said Mehul was forcibly taken away by the mob and is unlikely to have fled.
Another person, Kishan Thakkar, alleged that a mob of Muslims had spread terror and fear among Hindus by openly brandishing pistols and other weapons.
The witnesses, mostly Hindus, alleged that Muslims from the Vatva area had resorted to heavy violence and slogans like Kafiron ko kaat dalo were heard from the masjid in the area.
