Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday said she was surprised by the Rae Bareli court's decision to acquit Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani in the Babri Masjid demolition case.
The special court, while acquitting Advani, had ordered framing of charges against seven others, including Human Resources Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, who resigned on hearing the verdict.

"We have not yet gone through the entire verdict," she said, adding now it was for the Uttar Pradesh government and the Central Bureau of Investigation to decide on the next course of action.
Earlier, in New Delhi, Congress spokesperson Anand Sharma said the party would study the reasoning behind the order.
"But framing up charges against seven others means that they were involved in the demolition," he said.
He said one felt that Joshi's resignation was not of any significance as he had "enjoyed" power for five years.
