Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani and Defence Minister George Fernandes on Sunday said the armed forces will give a befitting reply to recent spurt of violence unleashed by terrorists.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Hindi Day function in Delhi, Advani said the violence in appears to be part of a 'bigger gameplan' of militants.
"This has been going on... there is no one small aim. We have to fight it out," he said.
Advani said the killing of top counterinsurgent Kuka Parray was meant to derail the peace process in Jammu and Kashmir.
Asserting that cross border infiltration was continuing, Fernandes said security forces will give a befitting reply to the stepped up violence by militants in Jammu and Kashmir.
"The security forces are giving and will continue to give a befitting reply to the attacks by militants," Fernandes told reporters after laying the foundation stone of a housing complex for rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu.
The defence minister said cross border infiltration of militants was continuing unabated.
Asked whether conducting joint exercises with the US in the strategically sensitive region of Ladakh would expose Indian terrain and territory, Fernandes said, "We too are carrying out exercises in the US. Indian Air Force and Indian Army went to the US and participated in the joint exercises."
Fernandes said the process of resumption of talks with Pakistan would continue even as there was no change in the situation on the Line of Control.
"The situation is what it was. Not much difference has been witnessed along the LoC," he said.
