The Liberhan Commission probing the Babri Masjid demolition case on Tuesday issued a non-bailable warrant against former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh for his failure to appear before it as a witness.
The Commission directed Singh to make his appearance on September 23 and 24.
The former chief minister through his counsel B B Saxena had moved an application seeking to adjourn the hearing slated for Tuesday on the ground that the political situation had changed in Uttar Pradesh and his presence was needed in the process to form the ministry in the state.
He said the assembly may also take up the confidence motion to prove the majority of Mulayam Singh Yadav government on September 2 or 3 and he could not leave Lucknow even for a day.
