The Pakistani high commission in New Delhi has sought permission for its officials to visit Gujarat on November 3 and issue temporary passports to the 93 Pakistani fishermen languishing in various jails in the state.
Abusar Mariwala, leader of a delegation of Pakistani fishermen camping in India since September 22, said first secretary in the Pakistani high commission, Khalid Zamali, had told him that such a request had been made to the external affairs ministry three days ago.
Earlier this week, before talking to Zamali in Delhi, Mariwala had strongly urged Pakistan Fisheries Minister Sardar Mansur Khan Pawar to resolve the issue, failing which the delegation would return to Pakistan.
