Three Lashkar-e-Tayiba terrorists, including an area commander, were killed in an encounter with troops along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, official sources said in Srinagar.
The encounter took place after the Poonch Brigade troops launched an operation in Sabzian-Mandi area near the LoC to track a group of infiltrators.
Two terrorists were still holed up in the area, the sources said, adding efforts were on to catch them.
Garrison Commander Brigadier P G Kamath was personally supervising the operation, they said, adding Pakistan troops opened mortar shelling in the area to provide cover to the terrorists.
On of the slain terrorists was identified as Abu Hanief, the sources said.
The slain terrorists were carrying, among other things, three Kalashnikov rifles, five magazines, 19 grenades, 529 rounds, one pistol, one radio set, one wireless set, four improved explosives devices and one rocket launcher.
