Six militants were killed on Friday in two encounters with the security forces in Baramulla and Kupwara districts of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said.
Three ultras were killed in a clash with the Rashtriya Rifle troops at Chak Manhmunshi-Kreeri in Pattan in Baramulla district early in the morning, the spokesman said.
He said acting on specific information about the presence of militants, jawans encircled a house. In the gun battle that followed three ultras were killed.
The house was damaged in the exchange of fire, the spokesman.
Three AK rifles were recovered from the spot.
In another encounter, three militants were killed in Kupwara district.
