Concerned well-wishers enquire about Naidu's health

President A P J Abdul Kalam and Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani will call on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who survived an assassination attempt by Naxalites, in Hyderabad.

President Kalam, who has a string of scheduled programmes in Hyderabad on Friday, will call on Naidu at his Jubilee Hills residence at 10:30 am, a spokesman of the Chief Minister's Office told PTI. Advani will arrive in the city at 9 am and drive straight to Naidu's residence.

On Thursday, President Kalam, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, chief ministers of various states, industrialists and Union ministers spoke to Naidu on phone to enquire about his health.

Chief Ministers Jayalalithaa, Digvijay Singh, S M Krishna, Narendra Modi, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Om Prakash Chautala, Ajit Jogi, N D Tiwari, Naveen Patnaik, Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, Amarinder Singh and Ashok Gehlot were among those who rang up Naidu's residence to wish him speedy recovery.

Former prime ministers V P Singh, H D Deve Gowda, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairperson Najma Heptullah, industrialists Mukesh Ambani, Dr Anji Reddy and Nandakumar were the others who called.

Naidu, who suffered injuries on his chest, nose and fractured his right shoulder in the landmine blast near Tirupati on Wednesday, was advised complete rest and few people were allowed inside his room.
