The National Liberation Front of Tripura has abducted six workers of a private construction company engaged in laying a railway track in Dhalai district, police said on Friday in Agartala.
Militants of the banned outfit picked up the workers from Sindhukumarpara village on Thursday night at gunpoint.
The workers were employees of the Shibam Construction Company. Five were identified as Umakanta Barma (supervisor), Manna Laskar (machine operator), Sangkaia Darlong (site supervisor), Rabindra Deb (machine helper) and Jiban Kumar Das (helper).
Senior police officials have launched a massive search operation to track down the insurgents and rescue the workers.
