SC petitioned for CBI probe into Telgi scam

A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the Telgi stamp paper scam.

The petition, filed by advocate Ajay Aggarwal, was mentioned on Tuesday before a bench headed by Chief Justice V N Khare.

It is likely to be listed for hearing on December 15.

The petitioner, annexing several newspaper reports relating to the scam, alleged that though Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani [ Images ] had said the Centre was ready for a CBI inquiry, the states were not making such a request as "political bigwigs" were involved in the scandal.
