S P Singh to be acting Mumbai police chief

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Satya [ Images ] Pal Singh will be the acting Mumbai [ Images ] police commissioner following Ranjit Singh Sharma's decision to go on leave from Friday, sources said.

Sharma, who retires on November 30, had met Maharashtra [ Images ] Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Thursday morning and sought permission to go on leave.

On Wednesday, the Special Investigation Team probing the fake stamps scam had submitted a report to the Bombay high court listing Sharma's 'omissions and commissions'.

The report was submitted to the court in a sealed cover captioned 'Shri R S Sharma's Involvement'.
