Two militants of the Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit planning disruptive activities in Delhi, were arrested by Special Task Force personnel of the Uttar Pradesh police from a bus stand in Muzaffarnagar, an STF release said on Monday.
On a tip off that terrorist groups were setting up a base in western UP for carrying out disruptive activities in Delhi and Mumbai, an STF team on Sunday night arrested the militants, identified as Ijaz Hussain Jaan of Baramulla and Meraj Hasan of Kupwara (both towns in Jammu and Kashmir).
A sketch of Parliament, a map of Delhi, a telephone diary and a mobile phone were recovered from them, it said.
Ijaz, a post-graduation student in the Shamli area of Muzaffarnagar district revealed during interrogation that the duo had been assigned to collect details of places like India Gate, Parliament, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, railway stations, stock exchanges and other crowded places to carry out terrorist activities, the release said.
