A day after the no-confidence motion was defeated in the Uttar Pradesh assembly, the Congress on Thursday said it would observer 'a day of blot' on March 12 to highlight the 'oppressive' and 'undemocratic' measures being used by Chief Minister Mayawati to stay in power.
"The chief minister's conduct in the House has brought a blot on Indian democracy," UP Congress president Arun Kumar Singh Munna said.
The role of Governor Vishnukant Shastri and Speaker Kesri Nath Tripathi had also come under cloud after Wednesday's incidence.
The Congress leader said all parties that believed in democracy should come forward to fight the anti-democratic attitude of the chief minister.
Munna said Congress workers would stage demonstrations at all district headquarters on March 12.
