Fifteen people, including 11 militants, were killed as security forces foiled an infiltration bid and smashed three hideouts seizing a big cache of weapons in Jammu and Kashmir since Wednesday night, a police spokesman said on Thursday night.

The infiltration bid was scuttled by the troops when they gunned down four Pakistani militants trying to sneak into Indian territory from the border at Ram wali gali in Kalaroos sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Wednesday night, the spokesman said.

He said four AK assault rifles, 14 magazines, 250 rounds, 32 grenades, 14 rockets with 12 boosters and two wireless sets were found to be in the possession of the militants.

In another encounter, the spokesman said Rashtriya Rifles killed four Pakistani militants belonging to al-Badr outfit at Safalpora in Langate area of Kupwara on Thursday morning.

The gunfight broke out on Wednesday night when the troops confronted the militants hiding in the area, he said. Two AK assault rifles, eight magazines, a rocket launcher with two rockets, a pistol, two wireless sets, five grenades and some ammunition were found in possession of the militants.

Troops of Rashtriya Rifles also killed a battalion commander of Lashkar-e-Tayiba Abdul Wahid Atak during search operations at Nathnoosa and found an AK assault rifle, two magazines, 50 rounds and four hand grenades in his possession, the spokesman said.

Quoting reports from Jammu region, the spokesman said two unidentified militants were killed by the security forces in a clash at Dingla top in Poonch district last night.

Official sources said a group of unidentified militants killed two people at Pazaipora village in Bandipora area of Baramulla district.

The victims who were camping in the area hailed from Rajouri district of Jammu, the sources added.
