On a court's order, police in Jaipur registered a case of murder into the mysterious death of Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Singh Shaktawat's servant but did not name him or anyone else as an accused.

The case was formally registered at the Sodhala police station late on Monday night, hours after Chief Judicial Magistrate Ramesh Chandra Sharma ordered a police investigation into the private complaint filed by father and brother of Badan Lal Rawat, whose body was found on a railway track on May 22.

The complainants, while alleging a foul play in Rawat's death, had named the minister as a respondent in their complaint.

Police sources said the column of accused had been left blank as nowhere in the complaint had anyone been directly blamed for the alleged murder.

The minister's name has been mentioned merely as a respondent in the complaint, they said.

"As per the court's order, the in-charge of the Sodhala police station is personally conducting the investigation," Superintendent of Police Sanjay Agrawal told reporters in Jaipur.

The Rajasthan government has already announced its decision to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
