A large number of mines recently removed from India's border with Pakistan and other ammunition were destroyed in a major fire at the Gurda Army Depot, 65 km from Jaisalmer.
Army officials said the fire broke out on Sunday morning at four technical sheds, where the scrapped mines recently removed from the Pakistan border were stored.
They said the fire started from one shed and spread to all others, destroying almost 70 per cent of the mines and other ammunition stored there.
The officials said a court of inquiry has been ordered into the cause of the fire.
