The monsoon session of Lok Sabha on Monday got off to a stormy start with the entire opposition creating a ruckus over the CBI dropping the criminal conspiracy charge against Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani and some BJP leaders in the Babri Masjid demolition case, forcing adjournment of the House.

As the House met for the day, agitated opposition members were up in arms alleging that Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had 'put pressure' on the CBI to dropping the conspiracy charge under section 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code against Advani, Human Resources Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi and others, including Uma Bharti and Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal.

The opposition, which had planned to move an adjournment motion, stormed the well during Question Hour shouting anti-government slogans and demanded dismissal of Advani and Joshi.

In view of the pandemonium, Speaker Manohar Joshi adjourned the House till 1400 IST.

A similar scene prevailed after the House reassembled at 1400 IST with members trooping into the well demanding Vajpayee's resignation.

Finding the members in an unrelenting mood, Deputy Speaker P M Sayeed adjourned the House for the day.

Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha was on Monday adjourned for the day without transacting any business in memory of Muslim League member from Kerala Korambayil Mohammed Haji and Congress member from Chhattisgarh Bhagatram Manhar, who died during the inter-session period.
