Leader of Pakistan's hardline Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazlur Rehman on Monday said New Delhi and Islamabad should resolve all outstanding issues through talks.

Rehman, who met Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav in Delhi on Monday morning, said the government and political parties in Pakistan favoured a negotiated settlement.

He said his delegation was in India to explore peace and he was happy with the response and warmth of the people.

Rehman said he would carry the message of 'peace and friendship' back home.

Yadav said people of India have always favoured resolution of all outstanding issues through talks.

Welcoming Rehman's visit, Singh said it would encourage people-to-people contact between the two countries.
