Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed condemned Monday night's twin blasts that left seven devotees dead and 38 injured at Banganga near Katra on way to Vaishno Devi shrine saying it was an attempt to derail the peace process.
Condemning the attack, J&K Governor Lt Gen (retd) S K Sinha, who is also the chairman of the Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, said, "This is a desperate attempt by the militants to make their presence felt in the area."
National Conference president Omar Abdullah, deploring the attack, demanded a thorough probe into the 'serious' security lapse.
Abdullah appealed to the people to maintain communal harmony 'as the attack is aimed at triggering communal frenzy'.
