Rhodes Scholarships India 2004

Applications are invited from outstanding graduates of Indian universities for six scholarships, for a course of study leading to a degree of the University of Oxford.

Candidates must hold at least a first class honours degree in Pure or Applied Sciences, Humanities, Law or Medicine.

Candidates in the final year of their degree courses with exceptional academic record may also apply. Apart from academic distinction, they must indicate continuing interest and achievement in extra curricular activities such as sports, theatre and community work. They must be below 25 years of age on October 1, 2004.

For an application form send stamped (Rs 6) self addressed envelope (10 x 23 cm.) to:

50% Railway Concession Announced

The Indian Railways has granted a concession of 50% in rail tariff for devotees who desire to travel to and from Ernakulam on the occasion of 'Amritavarsham 50,' the golden jubilee birthday celebrations of Her Holiness Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, to be held in September 2003.

The Railway Board has extended the fare concessions to/from places located at least 300 kms away from Ernakulam. The concession is valid for second-class accommodation. Bookings can be done 60 days in advance when booking opens, both for onward and return journeys.

 Devotees desirous of availing the concession must get in touch with the area co-ordinator of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math or Ashram.

The Mata Amritanandamayi Math, founded by Her Holiness Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, has its international centre at Amritapuri, Kollam, Kerala and various centers all over India. The international charitable trust has started scores of charitable projects in India, for the service of humanity, in the field of education, healthcare, housing and others.
