The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday slapped the Prevention of Terrorism Act on jailed independent legislator Raghuraj Pratap Singh aka Raja Bhaiya, who spearheaded a revolt against the Mayawati government in the state and his supporter Akshay Pratap Singh.
Pratapgarh District Magistrate Mohammed Mustapha said the POTA had been invoked after questioning Raja Bhaiya's father, Udai Pratap Singh, who was arrested earlier in the day.
Both Raja Bhaiya and Akshay Pratap Singh are currently in jail after being arrested earlier.
The two are already being held under the National Security Act after opposing the Mayawati government during the state Cabinet expansion in September 2002.
