Militants on Tuesday shot dead two Village Defence Committee members in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir after abducting them from their house on Monday night.
In a separate attack, militants fired two rockets, one of which hit a house close to a police station at Kotranka in Rajouri district killing its owner, Mohammed Sharif, and injuring his wife, two sons and another relative, officials in Jammu said.
A BSF spokesman had earlier said that the entire family of five was killed in the attack.
In the first incident, militants on Monday night entered the house of Jagdesh and Sudesh Kumar, two VDC members, in Sandha village of Ramban area in Doda district and abducted them, the officials in Jammu said.
They were taken into the forest nearby and shot dead on Tuesday, they said adding the bodies have been recovered by the police.
In the other incident, militants attacked a police station in Kotranka area of Rajouri district with rockets and grenades
late on Monday night, the sources said.
The militants fired two rockets of which one exploded in mid-air while the other fell into Mohammad Sharief's house, they said.
Sharief was killed on the spot while his injured family members have been hospitalised, the sources said.
In another incident, one Irfan was shot dead by militants who entered his house in Fazalabad area of Surankote in Poonch district on Monday night, they said.
His family members clashed with the militants and snatched one AK rifle, which they later handed over to security forces, the sources said.
Soldiers on Monday night shot dead two militants in the Mendhar area of Poonch district near the Line of Control as they foiled an infiltration bid, the sources said.
Four rifles, seven magazines, 150 rounds of ammunition, four hand grenades and some Indian currency was recovered from the slain militants, they said.
