Sushilkumar Shinde, the newly-elected Congress Legislature Party leader in Maharashtra, is likely to be sworn in as the next chief minister on Saturday, party sources said.
Shinde would be elected leader of the Democratic Front -- a coalition of several parties and a handful of independents -- at a meeting of the ruling front legislators on Friday.
The meeting is scheduled to be held at 11 am at the Vidhan Bhavan, party sources said. Later in the day, Shinde is likely to meet Governor Mohammed Fazal.
