The Bharatiya Janata Party [ Images ] on Thursday asked the international community to stop providing financial assistance to Pakistan.

Referring to a report by the auditor general of the Pakistan government, BJP spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, "The United States is undoubtedly among the countries financing Pakistan. They must ensure that their funds are not misused by the Al-Qaeda [ Images ] since the Pakistan government and its Inter-Services Intelligence are monetarily helping these terrorist organisation."

On Wednesday the auditor general had told a Web site, the South Asian Tribune, being run by a Pakistani journalist, that millions of dollars donated by expatriate countrymen had vanished while being transferred to Pakistan. He feared that such funds were being used to promote terrorists.

Naqvi said that India [ Images ] had always warned Pakistan about funding terrorist organisations. "Pakistan is their [terrorists'] fountainhead and the main operating centre."

"The most important aspect of the report is that 20,000 blank passport copies have been found from the country's various embassies/high commissions. This goes to indicate that the Pakistan government and the ISI are trying to legitimise their terrorist activities throughout the world," he said.

He said terrorists had asked women in Jammu and Kashmir [ Images ] to wear burqas [veil] and also directed non-Muslim doctors to leave the state.
