Suspended former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi still appears to be having considerable clout in the state Congress with about 20 legislators pleading with the high command to revoke his suspension in the 'larger interests' of the party.
"Injustices have been done by suspending former Chhattisgarh chief minister. People of the state are still with him and party should also stand by him," one legislator told PTI on the condition of anonymity.
Some of the 20 legislators met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi. They also met Arjun Singh, Pranab Mukherjee, R K Dhawan, Kamal Nath and Moti Lal Vora and pleaded them that party should reconsider its decision on the suspension of Jogi.
The MLAs included Dharamjit Singh, Thakur Balram Singh, Siyaram Kaushik, Churawan Mangeshkar, Shiv Daharia, Mrs Fulo Netam, Nand Kumar Patel, Dr Sakrajit Naik, Satyanarayan Sharma, Chanfrabhan Baramate, Gulab Singh, Ingride Mclaud, Haridas Bharaswaj, Amarjit Bhagat and others.
They claimed more MLAs are on their way to meet Sonia Gandhi on the issue. They plan to meet senior party leaders Manmohan Singh, Ambika Soni and Ahmed Patel on Wednesday to present their viewpoint.
